When the Valley Met the Northern Lights…

On the night of September 14, 2025, residents of the Tawatinaw Valley witnessed a memorable display of northern lights that stretched across the sky in soft, vibrant waves. The valley’s wide-open landscape and minimal light pollution created ideal conditions for viewing, allowing the colours to stand out clearly against the night.

As we drove down into the valley that evening, the aurora became increasingly visible, moving in gentle, rhythmic patterns—twisting, shimmering, and slowly shifting across the horizon. For many who saw it, the display stood out as one of the more vivid auroras in recent years.

Moments like this highlight the natural beauty that surrounds the region. The September 14 aurora became a shared experience for the community, sparking conversations the next day and reminding residents of the remarkable night skies that make the Tawatinaw Valley such a special place.
